Match report from The Scotsman, 16th May 1921
By their victory over Rangers at Hampden Park, Glasgow, the Celtic retain the Glasgow Charity Cup for another season. The winners were without McNair, but their defence was strengthened by the inclusion of Dodds, and the Scottish League champions fielded the same eleven which accounted for Clyde in the semi-final. The Rangers made a lively start, and Cunningham might have done better with two good chances which came his way. The Celtic made good progress against the wind, but Robb was well shielded. Play was very even, both goals being visited, and each had several narrow escapes. Twenty minutes passed ere a goal was registered, and a lucky goal it was, McInally's freekick being diverted into his own goal by McCandless. This reverse served to make the game more keen, the Ibrox forwards bothering the Parkhead defence, but to no avail and the Celtic still retained their narrow margin when the interval arrived.
The second half was notable for the aggressive work of the Rangers' forwards, and the innumerable free kicks which were given for the questionable tactics of both sides. Another goal came half-way through this half, and again it was in Celtic's favour. The ball kept bobbing about in front of Robb who tried to fist clear, but Pratt sent the .ball back for McInally to put into the net. Individual tries by the Rangers' forwards availed them nothing, the Celtic defence, although […] tested, holding out. The Rangers were unfortunate in a way, but superior tactics carried the day. The estimated attendance was 55,000.
