Review
There could have been two penalties early on when firstly Rangers claimed when the ball struck Gemmell's arm in the area and after that Caldow sent Johnstone crashing in the area but no penalties were given by referee Phillips.
In 15 minutes Celtic went close when Hughes skinned Provan and sent a low ball across the face of goal which the onrushing Murdoch just missed reaching. Ritchie then looked unsure and needed Caldow to head a Divers header off the goal line.
Celtic had settled well but Fallon made two fine saves before half time to keep the scores level. In 54 minutes Forrest gave Rangers the lead after Miller had created the chance for him. Celtic fought back and Murdoch's shot was so powerful that Ritchie couldn't stop it and turned to save on his line. Celtic claimed a goal bit the referee said it did not go over the line.
Forrest scored his second goal after a brilliant Baxter move and pass had sent him clear. In 70 minutes Celtic pulled one back when Johnstone scored after Ritchie couldn't hold a Chalmers shot.
Celtic pressed until the end and had a flurry of corners but could not find an equaliser.
