Trivia
- Celtic lose their third consecutive Drybrough Cup final.
- It was back to the young guard for the Final with Murdoch, Deans and Johnstone dropping out and Murray, Lynch and McLaughlin restored. Jim Brogan also dropped to the subs bench with Davie Hay moving back allowing Tommy Callaghan back into midfield.
- Young Brian McLaughlin impressive on Celtic right flank – normally Jinky’s spot. Jinky had already stated this season that he preferred to play in midfield. That was unlikely to be a starter and Jinky’s position at the club was somewhat fraught.
Review
Celtic started strongly and were to regret missed chances although they hid the woodwork twice. They badly missed the prowess of Deans in their attack.
A level goal-less game at the end of the 90 minutes. Hibs grew stronger in extra time and snatched a winner with two minutes of extra time remaining.
