From a newspaper report from the time.
In this North Eastern First Round Cup Tie, these teams met on South Croft Park, the ground of the former, in front of the largest number of spectators that ever lined the Clydesdale’s ropes. The Celtic kicked off 15 minutes after the advertised time, and in five minutes later McCallum scored with a fine swift shot. from the kick off, Tweedie had a good run up the right, but at the critical moment McKeown brought him to bay, and the Celts were soon in the home teams’ ground, but latterly the Clydesdale managed to drive them back. Play continued in mid-field for some time. However, the strangers once more pressed their opponents and Menning managed to notch number two for them.
The Celts ultimately won by 5 goals to 1.
