Glasgow Cup Semi Final. Played at Celtic Park, Parkhead, in a heavy rain storm. The Celtic were the better team, and against the wind in the first half they scored twice, Crossan putting the ball through on both occasions. Campbell scored twice and Dowds once for the Celtic in the second half, the final result being – Celtic, five goals; Thistle, one.

Celtic Park wore a very forlorn aspect. The game started in a torrent of rain and in the presence of about 2000 spectators, who bore the blast bravely. The Celtic were obliged to play the first half against the wind and rain, which swept right down the field. For the first five minutes they could do nothing but keep the ball out of their own goal. McKeown and Bell put in some splendid defending work, and it was wonderful how they managed to be so agile in the mud. They made one breakaway, which took them right in front of McCorkindale. This was a very pretty run, and had Campbell not fallen at a critical moment there is no saying what might have happened. The Thistle had all in their favour, however, and after dodging and jumping about in front of Bell, they succeeded in getting the ball past that goalkeeper. This was the first point. When the ball was kicked from midfield the Celtic put on steam, and gained a couple of corners, both of which were fruitless. The Celtic shortly afterwards scored two goals, and crossing over with a lead of one goal, easily added three to their score with the elements in their favour, and won by five to one. Thistle have protested on account of inclement weather.
