Review

From a newspaper report.

This match was played on Celtic Park before about 15,000 spectators.

The Celtic team was rearranged. McMahon (late of the Hibernians) was centre forward, and McGhee was at half-back along with Kelly and W Maley.

Dumbarton were without, Keir, and played Stewart at full-back, Miller taking Keir's place at half-back.

The game throughout was fast and exciting, at times brilliant. The Celts were first to score.

After 20 minutes, Maley headed the ball through from a corner, and shortly afterwards Dumbarton equalised.

The Celtic pressed hard in the second half, but were met by a most sturdy defence. McLeod in goal playing splendidly. The Celtic put on severe pressure in the last ten minutes.

There was no further scoring, and a grand game ended in a draw – 1 goal each.

Early in the game Stewart, of Dumbarton, was injured, and his side played with 10 men only.

Under these circumstances, Dumbarton deserve the greatest credit for their really plucky display.

McMillan and Boyle were the most conspicuous, and for the Celts Kelly was the most prominent.
