Cambuslang v Celtic.—At Whitefleld Park, Cambuslang. Keen interest was centred in the game as the result of the first tussle was a win for the Celtic by five goals to two. KeIIy preferred playing with his own team rather than participating in the trials at Edinburgh. Dowds kicked off for the Celtic, and during the first few minutes Cambuslang did not seem in it. Wakening up, however, their forwards carried the ball to the visitors’ posts and a fine shot from the foot of Maxwell was well repelled by Reynolds. Again returning to the charge. Kelly and his defence had a lively time of it Gourlay and Brown having fairly outwitted Gallacher, shot the ball across the goal-mouth, where Low, ever ready, smartly notched the first point for Cambuslang. The excitement was renewed when another goal was added to the villagers' score. This was too much for the Celts, who warmed up to their work. Campbell and McMahon, however, dribbled the ball down the visiting left. Dowds joined in, but just when he was looking dangerous a foul resulted. On the kick off, Low obtained the ball and carried it the length of the field, followed by Reynolds, who, rather than see Bell again beaten, deliberately held the little right winger. A foul was given, but Brown shot too high. "Jerry " was again conspicuous, a few minutes later, in delivering an apparently intentional kick to Maxwell, the home centre who limped for the rest of the first half. These incidents were the means of loud outcries from the onlookers, but interest was transferred to Kelly who by some splendid play carried the ball into the home goal. Collins timeously relieved with a splendid kick. Half-time found Cambuslang leading by two goals to none. In the second period, the Celtic having rearranged their forward rank, played much better M’Ghee made a splendid effort to score, but the veteran's shot was wide. On the other wing Madden had a splendid opportunity, but ran the ball out. Returning again, however, the visitors by good forward passing eluded the home halves, and Madden receiving a splendid pass at the goal-mouth, registered the Celts' first and only goal. Cambuslang were not to denied, and notwithstanding the splendid efforts of Kelly and Reynolds to relieve, the ball was forced past Bell for the third time. From this point to the finish the game consisted of a succession of runs on both sides, but no further scoring took place, and the result of a fast game was :— Cambuslang, three goals; Celtic, one.
