Celtic v Vale of Leven – These clubs met last night at Celtic park in their return League engagement. Dunbar filled McKeown’s place at back in the home team, which otherwise was as usual. The attendance was encouraging. The Celts early pressed, and the Vale for about ten minutes had a hard time of it, Docherty, Smith, and D. Sharp being freely tested. McMahon and Campbell were seen to great advantage, and the former scored with a great cross shot. Dowds succeeded in adding a second. The Vale were unlucky in losing this point. The visitors tried hard to make more headway, but were beaten at every point. The Celtic played magnificently, and were not too severely stretched. The result was :- Celtic, nine; Vale, one.
