CELTIC v CAMBUSLANG.-Played on Celtic Park. Cambuslang kicked off. The Celtic, with the exception of Cunningham in place of Brady, played the same team that won the Cup. The Celtic were early at Cambuslang goal, but were unsuccessful. In ten minutes Cambuslang forced Doyle to give a corner, which almost brought success. Celtic were showing fine form, indeed, but Cambuslang 's defence though of the scrambling order, was very effective. After twenty- five minutes Buchanan scored the first goal for Cambuslang from a well-taken corner. Celtic now put more sting into their play, and had many high tries, but were extremely unlucky at goal. Cambuslang were by no means overawed by their opponents, and made many likely visits to CulIen, but Doyle and Reynolds were always there in time. The Celtic tried hard to equalise before half-time, and gave a magnificent display, but the interval found the game standing :— Cambuslang one goal; Celtic, nil. On resuming the Celts played determinedly, and made desperate efforts to score, Dowds doing the trick after five minutes’ play, amidst cheers. Still pressing for all they were worth, the Celtic kept Cambuslang confined pretty much to their own quarters, but Cambuslang stood the test well, and only after fifteen minutes’ persistent shooting did the Celtic score by a "fizzle" under the bar. The Celts did not relax their efforts, but still played in a deliberate goal-taking style putting in a tremendous amount of work of a first-class kind. The team now became a bit excited, and some questionable tactics were indulged in by various players. When thirty minutes had gone M'Callum scored the third goal for the Celtic, after a fine bit of play. Celtic still continued to have the best of it, but could not add to their score. Result:—Celtic, three goals; Cambuslang, one goal.
