The Scotsman – Monday, 21st August 1893, page 5
CELTIC v DUNDEE – At Dundee, before 8000, spectators. Each team had undergone one change since last appearance. Graham replaced Craik for Dundee, while the Celtic were minus Madden, for whom Davidson was substitute. Celtic started the ball, and for a minute or two they kept it in Dundee territory. The ground team soon transferred it to the other end, but still there was no scoring. Play on both sides was fast and often brilliant, and each goal was attacked in succession. The Dundee custodian saved a dangerous scrimmage shot, but the next moment the Celtic goalkeeper was engaged and had thrice to do all he knew to avert defeat. After this the Celts had a spell of aggressive play, and when thirty minutes of the game had gone, Blessington first and then Cassidy scored for them. Half time ended – Celts, two goals, Dundee, nothing. During the first fifteen minutes the Celts kept their opponents on the defence, finishing up by scoring a third point. A quarter of an hour from time Longair headed the ball through and scored their first goal. The Celts immediately retaliated, and McMahon raised their total to four. The match ended :- Celtic, four goals; Dundee, one goal.
