CELTIC v DUMBARTON – This League fixture came off at Parkhead. Dumbarton lost the toss, and Celtic kicked off. They came away with a run, but McMillan returned. Johnston caught on, and soon plied Cullen with a smart shot, Cullen kicked out strongly. Campbell and Cassidy, settling in, raced down the left, but were repulsed by McMillan. The Celtic’s forwards were down again in a body. McLeod conceding a corner from a shot by McMahon. The game was evenly contested, first Celtic pressing and them Dumbarton. Both teams had hard lines in not scoring, Dumbarton in particular, when Bell headed the ball into Cullen’s hands. Half-time came with no goals scored. During the interval Wilson of Kirkcaldy was to give an exhibition of skating on pneumatic skates. He started but gave up when half round the track. In the second half the Celtic had the advantage of a light breeze blowing from end to end. They were soon down to McLeod, and had hard lines on not scoring, McLeod being on all fours. Dumbarton now came away altogether, their forwards working together beautifully, and treating the spectators to an excellent exhibition of the passing game. To save his goal Kelly had to kick behind. At the other end a foul was given against Sanderson for tripping. Result:- Dumbarton, one goal[incorrectly reported]; Celtic, no goals.
