RANGERS v CELTIC – This League fixture came of at Ibrox Park, Govan, before 15,000 spectators. The Rangers kicked off against a strong sun. For fifteen minutes play was very fast, each goal being assailed in turn. At last, from a fine run on the left, Steel accepted a pass, and scored the first goal for the Rangers. Keeping up the pressure the Rangers added a second goal five minutes later, Barker doing the needful. Another combined run by the Rangers’ forwards finished up by Gray heading a third goal. The Celtic strove hard to improve their position, but they could not break through the Rangers’ defence. Half-time:- Rangers, three goals; Celtic, nil. The second half was renewed after a prolonged interval. After a couple of saves Cullen was beaten for the fourth time. Barker again doing the needful. The Rangers put on a fifth goal. Barker again putting the ball into the net. Result :- Rangers, five goals; Celtic, nothing.
