Match Report

From a Newspaper Report at the time

There were fully 6,000 spectators at Parkhead when the Celtic met the Clyde in what had been arranged as a League match, but which, owing to the absence of a referee, was converted into an ordinary game.
The Clyde, after kicking off, made a determined effort to score, but the goal was too well defended. Then the Celtic pressed, and after a severe struggle compelled Henderson to give away a corner kick, but no advantage accrued from it.
Then the Clyde forwards made desperate efforts to put the ball through, but the task was a hard one, so brilliant was the play of Maley, Kelly and McIlheney.
After some open play, a spurt by the Clyde ended in Leslie scoring the first goal for the Barrowfield representatives.
The Celts were roused by the success of their opponents. At last Henderson was outwitted after most brilliant saving. Cassidy doing the needful, after a clever bit of work.
No further scoring took place up till half-time, at which period the teams were on equal terms – one goal each.
Immediately on resuming, the home team’s left-wing rushing in, Cassidy put the Celts a goal ahead. The Clyde did all they could to retrieve their position, but the play continued to favour the Celts, whose forward play was of a high standard at times.
From a combined run of the centre and left-wing Campbell scored third goal by a shot from thirty yards out. After some very dull play Cassidy put in a fourth goal, and Divers placed a fifth, making the result – Celtic, 5 goals; Clyde, 1 goal.
