Review
The 14,000 crowd was far more than Cathkin Park expected and there were huge queues along Cathcart Road to Alison Street and they saw a great Celtic performance with a fine hat-trick from Alec Bennett.
This was a significant game in Celtic’s history and the game changer was Jimmy Young who was described as a “glutton for work” as Celtic discarded their short-passing game in favour of a wider more open style with Loney and Quinn rampaging down the wings. With McMenemy fitting in well, this team now began to look as if it could go places.
