THIRD LANARK V CELTIC
A crowd of over 7,000 witnessed this match at Cathkin Park, Glasgow, last night, in showery weather.
Celtic forced the play from the start, and early gained a corner, which led to their first goal, scored by Gallagher. Continuing to dominate the play, a few minutes later secured a second goal, McMenemy converting a pass from Overs.
During the remainder of the first half Third Lanark were seldom dangerous, but their defence managed to prevent the visitors from increasing their score.
In the second half, the home team showed improved play, but their forward line were still erratic in front of goal, and the next point fell to Celtic through Gallagher.
Subsequently Mountford scored from a pass by Smith, and for some time Third Lanark looked like adding another goal, but clever defence was shown by the visitors, and the game ended Celtic 3 goals; Third Lanark, 1 goal.
