- The Glasgow Herald advertises a book of drawings entitled "The Western Front – Drawings by Muirhead Bone" with an introduction by General Sir Douglas Haig, price two shillings. The drawings include "devastated landscapes – monuments of the iniquitous brutality of our enemies" LINK
- Casualties for the week are published in the Herald as being 36 officers and 3,997 men. In other war news the French are said to be making advances at Verdun and an article sings the praises of the Irish Brigade whose motto "Everywhere and Always Faithful" which is printed in the colour of the Emerald Isle above a harp on the Brigade's Christmas card.
- The Herald also carries a report of our warplanes bombing a pontoon bridge across the River Tigris near Kut.

The Celtic won as easily as did their Ibrox rivals, and by the same margin. The only regrettable incident in the match at Hamilton was a collision between Gallagher and McNamee which went the compulsory retirement of both, the Celt for a brief spell, the Academical for the rest of the game.
