The Glasgow Herald, Dec 3, 1917
THE PENALTY OF OVER CONFIDENCE
At full strength for the first time in many weeks, Greenock Morton were confident in their ability to end a sequence of Celtic victories at Cappielow, and a goal obtained rather fortunately in the first half went far to increase their hopes of success. Unfortunately, Bradford made an even more regrettable blunder than Dodds and Cringan, and the incident in no way improved feeling, always high, and now at fever heat. Ruffled tempers, keen tackling, and heated arguments culminated in an encounter between Wright and Gallagher, which ended in the former being taken off injured and the other sent off by the referee.
