The Glasgow Herald – Nov 25, 1918
THISTLE AGAIN FAIL AGAINST CELTIC
The hopes of Partick Thistle, based on a long immunity from defeat, were further raised by an inspection of their rivals’ front rank which bore an unfamiliar appearance with an Aston Villa half-back on the left wing and Corcoran partnering Gallagher for the first time. There was every prospect of the Firhill team gaining their first League victory over the ex-Champions as thus represented, or at least of sharing with them the honours of a drawn game. The perseverance and opportunism of Gallagher denied Thistle even a modified success; a characteristic goal from that player deprived them of a point thoroughly deserved on general merit.
