The Glasgow Herald – Apr 22, 1919
It was unfortunate for Airdrieonians and Third Lanark that the Parkhead and Ibrox officials and players were alive to the possibility of a surprise. The home teams were the strongest available, and both made defeat impossible by establishing a commanding lead at the interval. The Celtic forwards reproduced their Falkirk form and Gallagher was again in scoring vein, his two goals were characteristic. On each occasion he eluded three opponents before delivering an unsaveable shot. J. Reid, as substitute for Rankin on the Airdrie right wing, strove hard to put his team on a better footing in the second half, and McStay and Dodds were often in difficulties against this brilliant forward. But the other Airdrie forwards were nonplussed by McNair’s coolness. Very seldom were they allowed within shooting distance of Shaw, though some of their long-range attempts tested the custodian’s ability and once he was almost beaten by an unexpected safety pass from one of his own side.
