- The Glasgow Herald of Monday 29 December reports an attack on the Viceregal Lodge in Dublin in which one soldier and one civillian were killed.
- The Herald also reports that 100 people have been killed in New York and neighbouring states from poison after drinking illicit liquor made from wood alcohol. Many cases of blindness have also been reported. LINK

The defence of Celtic was impaired by the physical unfitness of Dodds, pressed into service after a long absence, and a mistake by Shaw gave Third Lanark a slight lead that presaged a Celtic defeat, so inept were the home forwards at right and centre. McLean eventually equalised, and in the last minute obtained the winning goal, no mean feat for an extreme wing forward, who unlike the Hampden flankers, has not a penchant for scoring in that position. The Cathkin eleven showed marked improvement in every section, and if rather outplayed at times were most unfortunate to lose on the call of time. There was a great deal to admire in the unflinching defence of McNair, Cringan and Gilchrist, but the inside forwards did not inspire hope of the attack, as presently constituted being any more successful against Rangers than in the October game at Ibrox.
