The Glasgow Herald – Oct 16, 1922
Celtic were at home to Motherwell, the latter making a change at left back and at inside right; and Celtic having McStay sufficiently recovered to resume at half-back. The champions were always superior forward, where Gallagher and Cassidy were unequalled, but it was not till near the close, when the visitors’ half-backs were worn down, that Cassidy scored the only goal of the game. The defeat placed Motherwell at the bottom of the table.
