- H.R.H. the Duke of York was at Hampden Park on Saturday to see the second round Scottish Cup-tie between Queen’s Park and Bathgate. This was the first time that a member of the royal family had attended a football match in Scotland and a crowd of 30,000 saw the Duke being presented to the teams before the game which ended in a 1-1 draw.

CELTIC EASY WINNERS
About 5000 spectators were present at Celtic Park, Glasgow, where the Celtic had an easy win over Hurlford. The play in the first half saw the Celtic almost continually on the attack, but twenty minutes had gone before the Hurlford defence was pierced, Cassidy beating Murdoch after clever play by McLean. Cassidy failed to score from a penalty kick, but just on the interval he again beat Murdoch from close range. In the early stages of the second half the Hurlford forwards, with Young and McNee as leaders, stretched the Celtic defence, and twice Shaw had trouble in clearing his goal. Gradually the Celtic again took the game in hand, and a clever movement by the left wing enabled Cassidy to score a third goal, and the centre was again in evidence when he got through and registered a fourth. The gate drawings amounted to £166, exclusive of tax.
