FALKIRK DRAW WITH CELTIC
Falkirk, withouth the services of James Hunter, Townsley, Dougal, and Puddlefoot, and with a strangely constituted team, succeeded in taking a point from Celtic, whose team placings were also on unfamiliar lines. No goals were scored, a fact chiefly due to poor finishing on the part of both sets of forwards. Connolly was an early trier at the Falkirk goal, but his low shot was deflected by Kerr, while McLean, who caught up the return, shot narrowly over. Falkirk thereafter attacked in determined fashion, and Shaw was repeatedly called upon to protect his charge from downfall. Twice he saved in great style from Hunter, although on the second occasion he conceded a corner kick while lying full legth across the goalmouth. To Celtic, however, the greatest of scoring chances fell, but Connolly, with an empty goal before him, tipped lightly against the upright. The exchanges in the second half were of a fast and exciting order, with Shaw still getting more to do than Ferguson, though he was not greatly troubled with the shots that came his way. Both sides were strong in defence, McNair and Scott for Falkirk and Cringan and Shaw for Celtic being outstanding. The most prominent men in attack were Gallacher, Cassidy, and Connolly on the visiting side, and Moore, John Hunter, and Wood on the home side. The goalless draw was quite a fair result.
