Airdrieonians and Celtic Beaten
Celtic and Airdrieonians, so long the rivals for the position of runners-up, were both beaten, but the Lanarkshire club are now finally assured of the position, as Celtic can now only total 47 points as against Airdrieonians present 49.
Celtic were beaten at home by St Mirren, who scored the only goal in a drab game, in which the bright play of Hamilton, the St Mirren defender, Thomson their outside left, and Gallagher’s cleverness for Celtic were redeeming features.
There was no scoring in the first half, though play was fast and keen. Both goals were attacked in turn but the defenders played steadily and effectively. In the second half St Mirren started strongly, but Celtic got away and tested Bradford, who was, however in excellent form. Eight minutes from the finish McCrae beat Shaw, and this proved to be the only goal of the match.
