On Saturday Celtic won overwhelmingly against St Mirren, but the indifferent form of the Paisley side so far foreshadowed such an occurrence. For half an hour St Mirren quite held their own, but their inside forwards failed to avail themselves of scoring opportunities, and following a goal from a corner, Celtic added another two before the interval and established a commanding lead. An injury to their back, Hamilton, in the second half, disorganised the visitors, and Celtic adding two more goals, won easing up.
Celtic attacked at the start, but St Mirren turned the direction of play. The Celtic goal had several narrow escapes before the home side got the first goal twenty seven minutes from the start, Thomson beating Bradford. McGrory scored the second goal, and four minutes from the interval Gallagher added a third. Early in the second half St Mirren forced a corner which came to nothing. A penalty against St Mirren was converted by W McStay and the fifth goal was scored by McLean.
