The Scotsman – Tuesday, 6th January 1925, page 4
Third Lanark's troubles did not come singly at Parkhead, where they were outplayed to the extent of a seven goals defeat, by the Celtic yesterday. Connolly scored in the first hall-hour of the game, and W. M'Stay put his side two up by scoring from a penalty kick. Third Lanark lost three men all at once – M'Inally, who was ordered off for what appeared to be an interference with the referee during a throw up; Higgins, who was injured in a collision with Fleming, and Finlay, who retired alter wrenching himself on the slippery ground. Fortunately for the visitors, M’Inally and Higgins returned after a short period. Celtic led by two goals at hall-time, but shortly after the restart Higgins's injury began to trouble him, and he retired, leaving Third Lanark to finish with nine men. Thereafter, a Third Lanark rot set in, and Celtic piled on two goals, inside 50 minutes. J. M'Stay scored his team's third, M'Lean following a minute later with a fourth, and Connolly, M'Lean, and Thomson each scored within the next ten minutes. Despite the heavy score against him Jarvis was splendid in goal. Towards the end of the first half he saved a penalty goal from W. M'Stay. Celtic's superiority was, apparent all through, even when Third Lanark wore at full strength. The Parkhead young forwards were in a sprightly and clever mood all through the game.
