The Glasgow Herald – Mon Feb 9th1925

Celtic for a time appeared to have the measure of Alloa, and led by a couple of goals at the interval. Alloa showed fine pluck afterwards, scored one goal, and, growing in ability as they gained in confidence, they finally gave their formidable opponents a hard run for their narrow victory.

Alloa made a promising opening, but the Celtic defence was not seriously troubled. The scoring was engaged for the home side by McGrory. Alloa strove hard to equalise and Shevlin was called on to save from Paterson. Half an hour from the start McGrory converted a pass from Gallagher. In the second half Alloa played a strong game and after 20 minutes Thackeray headed through from a corner.
