- Peter Scarff continued his recent run of form and Alex Thomson seemed no worse for his recent bump in a bus as he scored Celtic's seventh goal with four minutes remaining. Willie Hughes and Charlie Napier had Celtic's other goals and only goalkeeper Jock McHugh, who saved a penalty kick, came out with any credit for the visitors.
- Two Celtic F.C. football players, James McStay and Alec Thomson, were travelling in a bus yesterday forenoon, when it was involved in a collision with a motor car at the junction of London Road and Hamilton Road, Glasgow. At the time of the mishap they were travelling to the city to attend training, and, with the other passengers in the bus, they escaped injury. The front of the bus was damaged.
- In the English Cup, Aston Villa surprisingly went down before Huddersfield Town at home. Alex Jackson (a.k.a. the Gay Cavalier) secured the winning goal for the visitors, as he has done on every Cup-tie occasion this season. Arsenal were not expected to beat their London rivals, West Ham, by so big a margin as three goals to nothing. In the other two matches Second Division teams forced a replay with First Division opponents. Newcastle United were held at home by Hull City, and Sheffield Wednesday, the First Division leaders, Were unable to dispose of Notts Forest.
- 600 Glasgow joiners ceased work on Saturday in shops where the halfpenny per hour reduction, which was enforced last month across the building trades, has not been restored. About 1,000, however, are reported to be at work, these having obtained the concession of being paid the full 1s 7 ½ d (8.13 new pence) per hour. A meeting of plumbers in the city was held last night, but at the close it was learned that they had decided against strike action. In Plymouth masons, bricklayers, and labourers, numbering about 2,000, have come out over the same question.
- The Prince of Wales, who left England on 3 January last for a big-game hunting expedition in Tanganyika has returned to Nairobi suffering from Malaria.

CELTIC'S SEVEN GOALS.
Celtic had an easy victory over Dundee United at Parkhead, winning as they liked by seven goals to nothing.
Celtic opened the scoring through Scarff three minutes after the start, and the same player added another a couple of minutes later. This went far to discourage the United, and when, nine minutes later, Hughes finished a Scarff effort by scoring Celtic's third, it looked all up for Dundee.
Worse was to follow two minutes afterwards when Scarff, finding himself covered, passed the ball back to Napier, who scored the best goal of the match.
The visitors' cup of bitterness was full to overflowing when Scarff completed his "hat trick" by scoring his third and his team's fifth-goal within seventeen minutes.
Celtic practically did what they liked after this, and any promise the United showed was easily stopped by a confident half-back line and a pair of resolute backs.
The home men were not over-anxious to increase their score, or at least so it appeared, as many easy chances to do so were thrown away, until, nineteen minutes from the end, Scarff further increased the lead. Four minutes from the final whistle A. Thomson completed the seven.
Dundee were a poor lot, only McHugh, Ross, and Haddow showing any fight, but all the winners did well, particularly Cook, their new back, whose kicking and tackling was of the highest order.
The attendance was 3,000.
