- Celtic scored three goals (Scarff & McGrory, (2)) in a burst between the 25th and 29th minute and killed the game off as a contest. George Walker scored a consolation goal for the Buddies with 4 minutes remaining. Alex Stewart was said to have been the best of the St. Mirren forwards.
- Referee's Report: The referee at Hampden Park last Saturday (J. Thomson, Burnbank), who sent R. Thomson off the field, has reported that Thomson, after being checked for attempting to kick Buchanan, the Rangers' back, deliberately tripped him up. Celtic have lodged a protest regarding the manner in which the referee controlled the game.
- At the top of the First Division Rangers and Cowdenbeath dropped points to the benefit of Motherwell and Celtic who won their matches. Motherwell now lead the league table on 18 points and Celtic are fifth place on 16 points with a game in hand.
- Graham Robertson's last match for Celtic. Advised to stop playing football on medical grounds, Robertson was to be released by Celtic in April 1931, a cruel blow for any young aspiring footballer.
- In England Arsenal regained the lead of the First Division from Aston Villa who lost their first point in a local derby match with their city rivals Birmingham. Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford where a threatened boycott by the fans failed to materialise and the crowd, the biggest of the season, saw Alec James score the late winner.
- The record breaking Australian airman Wing-Commander Kingsford Smith set a new record time flying from Britain to Port Darwin, Australia in 10 days 2 hours ten minutes.
- Unemployment in Scotland rose by 16,126 in September.

CELTIC EASY WINNERS
At Parkhead, Glasgow, before 16,000 spectators, the Celtic had an easy victory over St Mirren and made certain of success during the opening half.
After a quiet opening in which the reserve halfbacks gradually settled down, the home team went on to develop a good game. The absence of Wilson and McStay was scarcely felt, so well did Robertson and Geatons play in their places.
The work of the Celts during the first half was very fine to watch, and it was marvellous how the St Mirren’s goal escaped as long as it did.
After Scarff had opened the scoring at 25 minutes, McGrory followed up that success with goals three and four minutes later.
The second half was a quiet period, as the Celtic appeared to be well content with their lead. In the closing minutes, Walker scored the Saints only goal.
The home half-backs had a great day and laid the foundation for their Club's victory. R. Thomson was in sparkling form on the home right, and was given plenty of opportunity.
The Paisley Club defenders were hard worked, but could hardly be blamed for the defeat. It was their misfortune to meet the Celtic in irresistible form. Their forwards played well enough in the open, but had poor ideas of position near goal.
