- The high-point in a comfortable win for Celtic was the opening goal scored in 24 minutes by Chic Geatons who drove an unstoppable shot home from 30-yards. Charlie Napier goals from penalty-kicks followed in 30 and 48 minutes and Jimmy McGrory sealed the win with a drive from 18-yards. Leith's centre-half Reid conceded both fouls that resulted in spot-kicks.
- Rangers on 29 points and Celtic on 28 with a game in-hand are now beginning to draw clear of the pack in the First Division. East Fife on 4 points after 19 games played look doomed for relegation even at this stage.
- In England the top spot has changed and champions Sheffield Wednesday, who hammered Birmingham 9-1, have displaced Arsenal on goal difference though Arsenal have played one less game. Chelsea played their best game of the season at home to defeat Sunderland 5-0. Scots were prominent and Gallacher got two, left-back Tommy Law, one (pen), and Alex Cheyne one.
- A revolt by Republican army officers at Jaca in Spain has been crushed with the two leaders being court-martialed and executed by firing-squad. The two officers, Colonel Galan, and Captain Hernandez had mutinied and taken over the town of Jaca where they were garrisoned with 1,500 troops. Troops loyal to the government were dispatched from Huesca and Saragossa and after fierce fighting at the Ayerbe Pass, which included the use of field guns, the rebels were defeated. In addition to the two who were executed four other officers were condemned to penal servitude for life. General Berenguer, the Prime Minister released the details of the affair after and audience with the King, who declined a plea for clemency “from the women and mothers of Saragossa.”

TWO PENALTY GOALS FOR CELTIC.
About 5,000 spectators at Parkhead, Glasgow, saw the Celtic gain a comparatively easy victory over Leith Athletic.
The game never got exciting, though in its early stages it was contested on interesting lines.
For the most part, the Celtic were attacking without looking like beating the visiting defenders who were plucky and daring in their work at close quarters. Steele and Reid especially were prominent, and the latter kept a good grip on McGrory.
The Athletic forwards raided confidently, but finished badly.
The scoring was opened by Geatons, the Celtic's left half-back, with a Iong drive. That was followed by a penalty goal by Napier because Reid was judged to have handled, though the Athletic players stoutly contested the decision, holding that R. Thomson had played the ball hard against the Leith man.
The decision upset the visitors, whose play fell off in attack, but the defence still held out.
Early in the second half another "penalty" was granted the Celtic for Reid putting R. Thomson down, and again Napier scored.
Play ran on quiet lines for the most part, but McGrory raised enthusiasm by the smart manner in which he scored a fourth goal for his side.
The Celtic were masters throughout the game, and were never fully extended.
