CELTIC DROP A POINT
CELTIC, 2; DUNDEE, 2.
FOR their important League game against Dundee at Parkhead, Glasgow, yesterday, Celtic rested McGrory, and Gilmour and McNab were absent from Dundee, all in view of Saturday's international match.
Celtic had most of the play during the first half, but poor finishing spoilt their work. Dundee's defence stood up in fine style, and none did better than Brown and Marsh.
It was all against the run of play when from a breakaway Balfour took advantage, of a weak pass back by McGonagle to beat Thomson, who was given no chance.
Celtic resumed a goal down, and continued to press without result. They then altered their attack, Hughes going from outside left to centre, and Scarff and Napier moving to the left. Almost immediately success came along, Hughes going through to level the score.
Celtic put on severe pressure after this, but it was Dundee who scored, Troup counting from 25-yards range.
Celtic equalised through R. Thomson, but they could not got the all-important winning score.
In a great defensive side, none did better than Marsh, Brown, and Blyth for Dundee, and their young forwards, Lynch and Balfour, made a fine appearance.
Hughes was poor for Celtic at outside left, but improved when he moved to centre. R. Thomson and A .Thomson were their best forwards, and the defence was good with the exception of McGonagle, who gave away the first goal.
The loss of a point has lessened Celtic's prospect of winning the flag.
