CELTIC AT THEIR BEST

At Celtic Park, before 13,000 spectators, Celtic played dazzling football, and simply walked through Cowdenbeath's defence.

They were, however, lucky to open the scoring in eight minutes, the ball striking McGrory and beating Edwards.

The home side were playing studied football, and gave the Fife defence a busy time, Edwards making some splendid saves. Napier added the second goal in nineteen minutes with a splendid shot, but had to retire fifteen minutes later with an injured ankle.

Two minutes from the interval A. Thomson put on the third, with a fast hook shot.

Napier resumed after the interval at outside-left, and in four minutes McGrory, from a clever pass by Solis, beat Edwards. The same player met a cross from R. Thomson twenty minutes later, to score the fifth; and eight minutes from the end Solis, with a clever dribble, got into position and shot past Edwards from ten yards.

Two minutes later McGrory scored his fourth and his team's seventh goal. Celtic were in wonderful form, and overwhelmed their opponents, Solis making a fine show at inside-left in the second half.

Their defence was never stretched, and easily repulsed the occasional Cowdenbeath attacks.

Paterson and Stewart were the only visiting forwards to show enterprise. Their halves were overwhelmed, also their backs; but Edwards had some great saves.
