- Timothy Morgan opened the scoring for the visitors but unfortunately his team-mate Townsley put the ball into his own net to equalise for Celtic. Then English inside-right John Stevenson regained the lead for Falkirk in 41 minutes, but this was countered by Falkirk-born Celt Charlie Napier scoring in 45 minutes and adding the winner 15 minutes after the break.
- After two clean sheets goalkeeper John Falconer concedes twice, but an unusual Celtic forward line with Falkirk-born Robert Whitelaw at outside-left recover after being behind twice.
- In the first round of the Scottish Cup the games were played in a furious hurricane and in pelting rain. In Edinburgh there were four matches; the Heart of Midlothian and St Bernard’s joined Edinburgh City, who had previously entered the second round, the Hibernians were beaten, and Leith Athletic could but draw at home with the Albion Rovers. The drawings at the Marine Gardens came to but £50, which would not help Leith Athletic in their financial troubles. The Hearts had a 13 goals to three win over Lochgelly, and Battles got five of their goals. The only other double figure aggregate was got by Queen of the South who beat Stranraer by eleven goals to one. Their centre forward also had five goals.
- Notwithstanding their defeat in the Cup-tie, and the reverses away from home in the League, the Everton team recovered their League form at Goodison Park, where 40,000 people saw them beat Sunderland by four goals to two. Everton remain top of the table.
- Although Mr Gandhi has been in jail for more than a fortnight, he has not yet received a single visit from the outside world, nor have any but journalists applied for permission to visit him. The reason for this is partly due to the fact that under the regulations, strictly enforced by the present Government, prisoners are allowed to see only their wives and near, relations, and in Gandhi's case his wife and a large number of his relations are also in prison.

FALKIRK LEAD TWICE AGAINST CELTIC
At Celtic Park, Glasgow, in a very high wind, the Celtic had to struggle hard to secure a victory over Falkirk. The Celtic won the toss, but play was very scrappy, the wind causing the ball to play strange tricks.
Falkirk were the first to score. Radcliffe beating McGonagle, after Cook had passed over to his colleague to place the ball to Morgan for the centre to find the net.
That was a blow to the home side, and they strove hard to equalise, but Falkirk's defence was sound, and held out until Townsley, unfortunately, put the ball through his own goal in attempting to clear a cross by R. Thomson.
Hamill was a prominent defender in spoiling several Celtic attacks, and Falkirk went away to secure the lead once more, Stevenson finishing off a lively onslaught on the home goal by scoring a second goal.
McGrory was being missed badly; Hughes's finishing was poor. Just on the interval, however, the Celtic equalised from a penalty kick, the granting of which did not please their opponents, and Napier equalised.
Against the wind the Celtic improved, and Falkirk lost a lot of their previous sparkle, probably owing to their hard fight in the first half. Play never rose to a high class, but the Celtic were in the end good value for their victory. Napier put than ahead with a free kick from twenty-yards out.
Thomson, Hamill, and Gall, were outstanding for the losers, who played a plucky game, and Falconer, McGonagle, and Napier did best for the winners.
The attendance was 14,000 and the drawings £212.
