- Celtic led by a George Paterson (playing at inside-left) headed goal, when, just before the interval, John Wallace saved a certain goal on the line. In the second-half Alex Thomson scored Celtic’s second goal with a drive from 15-yards that took a deflection to beat Robert Morrison the Airdrie keeper. Robert G. Harrison (later Hamilton A. & Rangers) pulled one back for Airdrie in 88 minutes, but the game was as good as over by then.
- In the Second XI Cup Final at Celtic Park a 28,000 crowd watched Celtic “A” draw 2-2 with Rangers “A”. The Celtic team of:- Wallace; Boyle and Morrison; McDonald, Coull and Hughes; McGillivray and Buchan, Frank O’Donnell, Smith and Hugh O’Donnell did not meet the expectations of the Herald correspondent who described this sixpenny admission match as “not a brilliant game.” Outstanding players for Celtic were Wallace, Coull and the O’Donnells. Each team were allowed one first-team player, H. O’Donnell for Celtic and Dawson for Rangers.
- In the First Division of the English League, Aston Villa beat Newcastle United to enhance Arsenal’s championship hopes; Huddersfield Town beat Liverpool, Leeds United beat Everton, and Leicester City drew with Chelsea.

CELTIC 2 AIRDRIEONIANS 1
Celtic were without Kennaway, McGrory, and Napier in this their last home League engagement last evening.
Playing with the assistance of a strong wind, Airdrie were soon attacking, but the home backs were safe.
The visitors were keen, and Connor took a lot of watching, although each time Celtic got near the Airdrie goal they were extremely dangerous. H. O’Donnell was given a great opportunity to open the scoring when he was allowed to travel goalwards without opposition, while the visitors defence stood claiming off-side against Paterson. The winger got close in and shot, but Morrison saved, and O’Donnell shot past from the rebound. A minute later, however, he made amends by sending over a fine cross which Paterson headed through, the ball striking the post and the goalkeeper before entering the net. This was ten minutes before the interval.
In the opening minute of the second half Frank O’Donnell sent in a great shot which rebounded from the upright.
Airdrieonians replied with great determination, and claimed strongly that the ball was over the goal-line before Wallace cleared a snap shot from Conner, the ball having come off the post.
Fifteen minutes from the end, following a free kick, Alec Thomson drove through from fifteen yards, the ball striking a player on its way and giving Morrison no chance. Celtic took things easy after this, but were always on top, the visitors seldom causing the home defence any worry.
Just before time Harrison scored for Airdieonians, and following this they almost equalised, Hogg saving on the line.
