Trivia
- McGrory opened the scoring in 10 minutes, but outside-left Grant equalised for Falkirk F.C., then a minute before the interval Peter McGonagle restored Celtic's lead from the penalty spot. Bob Shankly grabbed the equaliser for Falkirk in 62 minutes.
- In astonishing scenes at Celtic Park with Celtic on the attack looking for the winner, the referee calls time-up prematurely, and then after the players troop off has to call the players back on to the pitch to play out the full amount of time.
- On Saturday the Scottish League table suggests an open First Division competition. Four clubs only have won full points—and they are Aberdeen, Motherwell, Queen's Park, and Queen of the South. An outstanding feature, of the day was the second success of Queen of the South.
- The small rhesus monkey which has been at large now for nearly three weeks, and which has been seen repeatedly in the Murrayfield district of Edinburgh, is moving east, and has been seen at the week-end in the neighbourhood of the Dean Bridge. Efforts to capture it proved tantalisingly unsuccessful, the monkey displaying marked gymnastic ability. Monkey nuts put out for its benefit have been graciously accepted, but the monkey never stays long enough to make the closer acquaintance of his hosts.
- Still fasting, and growing weaker, Mr Gandhi has been removed from Yeravda Jail, Poona, to the civil hospital. He still refuses the Government’s offer of release on the condition that he gives up any form of civil disobedience.

CELTIC DROP A POINT AT HOME
The attendance at Celtic Park, Glasgow, for the Celtic-Falkirk match was well below the average, only some 5,000 being present.
The Celtic were not long before they gained an advantage, McGrory scoring in ten minutes after the ball had been well sent over from the right, but Falkirk were by no means upset by the reverse. They attacked brightly, and gave the home defence considerable trouble in keeping them out. The persistence of their forwards was rewarded when, in seventeen minutes, Grant equalised with a magnificent effort which left Kennaway helpless.
During the succeeding play the Celtic were the better side and only the keen tackling of the Falkirk defence kept down the score, but always there appeared danger from the visitors' left-wing.
The ex-Tranent player, Grant, showed plenty of confidence which was in striking contrast to the home left-wing. Two minutes from the interval the Celtic were awarded a "penalty," and McGonagle put his side ahead.
Although the Celtic opened the second half with a strong attack their play was by no means impressive, and soon the visitors were giving Kennaway trouble. The home attack lost touch, and the visitors' half-backs gradually assumed a hold over them which promised success. And it came in seventeen minutes, when Shankly diverted a centre by Grant to equalise the scores again.
That reverse staggered the Celtic men, who were by no means strong in their reply, although towards the end they looked like going ahead once more. The referee ended the game before time was up and when the Celtic were attacking hotly. The players, some of whom had left the ground, were called upon to resume, and there was no more scoring.
"Some commotion was caused by the referee making a mistake in signalling the finish before the regulation time had expired, and it was necessary to recall the players as they were retiring from the field."
