- With the fan's favourite Bertie Thomson transferred to Blackpool for £5,000, Celtic play Johnny Crum at outside right in a winning front line at Firhill. This line-up is efficient in getting a win with goals from Crum, McGrory and Frank O'Donnell. In opposition for Partick in the outside-left breth that made him such a favourite at Celtic Park is Adam McLean, who has Kennaway beaten twice only for the woodwork and Jimmy McStay to thwart him.
- Queen of the South sustained their first defeat of the season last-evening (Wednesday) when at Dumfries they found Queen's Park much too clever for them. The amateurs have had a fine start with the maximum points from three games. Hibernians, following their draw with Rangers accomplished another good performance in winning at Cowdenbeath.
- Mr. Gandhi was unconditionally released by the Government of Bombay from the civil hospital here at 3.40 this afternoon, after he had fasted for seven days. He was immediately afterwards taken in as ambulance to the marble palace at Parnakuti of Lady Thackersey.

THE REAL CELTIC
In a thrilling match at Firhill Park, Glasgow, last night, Celtic got their first win of the season by beating Partick Thistle 3-0.
With Crum at outside-right in place of Thomson, now of Blackpool, and the two O’Donnell's on the left wing Celtic, in the first half, gave a brilliant display, with their defence being strong and the attack playing with fine combination and shooting with power.
After the interval their play was not so sustained, and Thistle did most of the pressing, but there was not the same method in the attack and the shooting was very poor.
Thistle, however had no luck, and the Celtic defence were fortunate to come through the game undefeated.
At the start, Thistle were full of running, and clever play by Ballantyne was finished by McLean striking the bar, with Kennaway well beaten.
Celtic then settled down to play great football, but the Thistle defence never wavered, and in a terrific burst by the home forwards Pritchard hit the bar with Kennaway out of his goal.
The Parkhead side were quickly back on the attack, and after 24 minutes Crum sent the ball across for McGrory to-shoot hard into the net. It was all Celtic after that, and though Gourlay had some great saves, he could not prevent Crum scoring a second goal.
Four minutes from the interval Crum again distinguished himself by sending the ball across for H. O'Donnell to make the total three.
In the second half, the play was not so fast or exciting, and most of the near things came at Celtic's end. Kennaway made a desperate, save when McGonagle almost turned the ball into his own goal, and McStay saved his side when McLean had Kennaway beaten.
Right on to the end Thistle fought hard, but Wylie failed to snap up many chances given to him by Ballantyne and Pritchard.
The attendance was 20,000.
