Trivia
- James McGrory's hat-trick is the highlight for Celtic and left-back Hamilton is the best of a bad bunch for Third Lanark.
- The most surprising result in yesterday evening's nine Scottish League First Division matches was Arbroath's two-goal defeat of Hibernian at Easter Road, but it was very little ahead of Rangers' seven-goal victory over St Johnstone, or Celtic's 6-0 win over Third Lanark, or Hamilton Academicals' 7-2 defeat of Albion Rovers.
- Wages and overtime working in the Scottish coalfields were the principal items on the agenda at the bi-annual meeting in Glasgow yesterday (Wednesday 28 Aug) of the National Union of Scottish Mineworkers. Mr Andrew B. Clarke, the president, and conference endorsed the claim for an increase of two shillings, (10p) per shift. It was stated that under the existing Scottish agreement the normal wage, of miners was 8 shillings and one farthing, (40p) per shift and the average working week was five and a half days.

CELTIC TOO GOOD FOR THIRD LANARK
Celtic won very comfortably at Celtic Park by six goals to nil against Third Lanark, who very seldom looked like scoring.
Carabine and Hamilton were the only two of any note in the visiting team. Muir had no chance with any of the goals. Third Lanark's attack was woefully weak, Dobbs and Hay being misfits, and Gallagher very slow.
Celtic impressed from goal out. Third Lanark were very sprightly in the opening minutes but Celtic gradually came into the picture and struck a very good game, and it was no more than their due when they turned round at half-time with a 3-0 lead, the goals coming from McGrory (2) and Buchan.
Third Lanark started the second half very strongly Ritchie and Kennedy being prominent with some strong running, but Dobbs and Gallagher were very slow.
Fifteen minutes after the restart McGrory forced his way through and gave to Delaney, who slipped to Crum for the winger to beat Muir for the fourth time.
Third Lanark fell away and McGrory scored a fifth goal, Buchan adding a sixth before full time.
