CELTIC WIN BOTH POINTS
McGRORY'S GOAL-SCORING FEAT
In spite of the blustery weather conditions, Celtic and Airdrieonians gave quite an attractive display at Parkhead Glasgow.
The game was notable for McGrory's performance in scoring two goals, and thus passing S. Bloomer's, record of 352 goals scored in League matches.
McGrory has scored 353 goals in League matches, but required 10 more to beat Hugh Ferguson's record of 362.
Celtic set the pace from the start, with the advantage of the strong wind, and the visitors were hard pressed in holding the eager Parkhead forwards.
McCaffer was prominent with some fine defensive work, and Calder gave him sound backing. Connor was very keen to shine against his old colleagues, but Lyon was always on the spot to avert disaster.
After twenty-five minutes, Celtic scored when Delaney headed the ball in, and Buchan netted from the rebound. Within five minutes McGrory took a beautiful pass from Crum, and gave Hawthorn no chance with a powerful shot from close in.
In the second half the home team continued to dominate play. The visitors' attack was seldom seen, and only Connor was at all noticeable.
Crum, Buchan, and Paterson impressed with some beautiful play, and ten minutes from the end McGrory headed through a brilliant goal.
Delaney scored Celtic's fourth goal with a shot from 20. yards, which Hawthorn stopped, but could not hold.
The attendance was 8,000.
