- Willie Fagan‘s goal in 10 minutes is equalised by Thistle’s centre-forward, George Wylie. After the break Willie Lyon in 54 and Willie Fagan in 70 minutes make the game safe for Celtic.
- A crowd of over 20,000 turn out to see Jimmy McGrory attempt to beat Willie Macfadyen‘s record of 52 League goals scored in a season, but sadly McGrory does not start so cannot score the 2 goals needed to beat the Motherwell man’s record.
- Celtic by dint of Ranger’s 1-1 draw with Hearts at Tynecastle in midweek, went into this game against Partick Thistle as Scottish League Champions for season 1935/36.

- Arsenal, captained by Alex James, won the 1936 F.A. Cup Final for the second time in their history defeating Sheffield United 1-0 before 93,000 spectators at Wembley. A ban on news-camera’s caused Pathe to film the final from Auto-gyros.
- Also in England the Buckhaven-born brothers, Frank and Hugh O’Donnell, and Denny-man James Dougal score for Preston North End in their 5-0 win over Leeds United, and Hughie Gallacher scored the opening goal in Derby’s 4-0 win over champions Sunderland.
- A meeting of the Scottish Trades Union Congress at St Andrew’s calls on the government to condemn the terrible threat of the Italo-Abyssinian war and also calls on union organisations to stop all war supplies to Italy.
