CELTIC RESERVES AID RETURN TO FORM

Celtic showed a return to form at Parkhead, where they registered a convincing win over Hamilton Academicals.

With Carruth and McDonald in for McGrory and Geatons the home side served up some brilliant football, and Carruth stood out with three goals. This youth has improved almost out of recognition, and has a quick brain, and an abundance of grit.

Celtic early took command, and two quick goals by Carruth put Hamilton very much in the shade. Hamilton were only seen in fleeting glimpses for twenty minutes, but after twenty-three minutes, McNee seized on a beautifully placed ball from Wilson, and sent a low shot into the net close to the post.

Celts were a bit rattled and Carruth, Delaney, and Crum tried hard to augment their lead, but Morgan and Thompson defied them. One minute from the interval, after some loose defensive work, Keddie got possession, to shoot the equaliser.

Celts restarted spiritedly, and in fourteen minutes Carruth was brought down when going through and a penalty kick awarded to Celts. Harrison ran back to warn his goalkeeper of Buchan's mysterious powers in the penalty-kicking art and pointed to the presumed spot, but Morgan waved him off with disdain. Buchan took the kick, and Morgan dived to one side of the goal while the ball entered the net at the other side!

Midway through the half, Carruth tapped home a Murphy cross to put Celts in an unassailable position. The attendance was 14,000.
