CARRUTH ON THE MARK
Celtic's display against Partick Thistle shows that they seem to have at last produced what must be the youngest and the cleverest attack in the First Division.
The Partick Thistle eleven, who were quite a good and clever combination, were eventually over-run and outclassed. A feature of the game was the display of Carruth, at centre forward for the home team.
Celts took the lead after ten minutes' play, when Crum scored. Buchan added a goal before the interval. The second half had a thrilling opening. Carruth scored two smart goals within the first two minutes, and all interest in the game as a contest faded out.
Before the finish, Geatons, who had been injured and was playing at outside left, scored a fifth, and Crum finished the scoring with a smart goal from a perfect pass from Carruth.
For Celtic, Lyon, Hogg, Delaney, Crum, and Murphy were outstanding. Thistle were well served by Johnstone, Calderwood, Sutherland, and Williamson, while Watson if impetuous, was always a trier.
The attendance was 16,000.
