Then Reid repeated the service for Alan Collins to score Kilmarnock's second and though MacDonald pulled one back from the penalty spot Celtic were out of the cup and Kilmarnock had won a famous victory against the odds.
- Celtic’s cup tie topped the attendances with 39,389 fans bringing receipts of £1,589 and East Fife set a record attendance at Bay View where 17,000 watched their drawn match with Aberdeen.

- The biggest naval engagement of the Spanish Civil War took place today during which the Nationalist cruiser Canarias was sunk by a torpedo from Republican warships in the Mediterranean off Cape Palos, Murcia, Spain.
