CELTIC'S TRIUMPH
EIGHT GOALS SCORED AT COATBRIDGE
CRUM LEADS WELL
Albion Rovers were no match for Celtic, whose goal average improved to the extent of eight goals to one by the game at Cliftonhill, Coatbridge.
It was practically all over for the Rovers after the first fifteen minutes, during which time the home team more than held their own and looked like making a game of it. In the light of subsequent events, however, it appeared that Celtic were only biding their time.
It created quite a sensation when the Rovers took the lead, but their success was short-lived—only a minute, in fact. Celtic equalised, and a few minutes later took the lead. They made it quite evident then that they were a much superior team. Their clean-cut forward movements swept behind the unorganised home defence and gave the goalkeeper a hectic time.
There was really only one of the home players who could occasionally rise to the standard of the Celtic play. He was Sharp, the ex-Hearts' right half-back.
Crum was outstanding in the Celtic attack as the five goals he scored indicated. Always cool and collected he was quick to take advantage of mistakes. Delaney (2) and Geatons were the other scorers.
Burke was the most prominent of the Coatbridge forwards and was sometimes more than Paterson could cope with, but he was not given adequate support.
