- Outside-left Joe Johnston opened the scoring for Motherwell in 9 minutes and three minutes later Malky MacDonald equalised for Celtic. Within three minutes of the second-half inside-right Tom "Hutton" Bremner put Motherwell in front and the same player added another in 73 minutes to bring about a convincing win for Motherwell.
- The transfer of Frank O'Donnell from Blackpool to Aston Villa for £8,000 makes news in Canada [See below]. The O'Donnell brothers have been huge successes since leaving Celtic Park where they were happy to play apparently. Frank O'Donnell stars in his debut for the "Villans" and scores a brace.
