“There were three converted penalty kicks – two by Celtic and one by Queen’s – and the last-mentioned was conceded by McKay, the young Celtic goalkeeper, nine minutes from the end, when his side seemed certain of reaching the final. In a bustling Queen’s attack, McKay was jostled by Mitchell as he was clearing the ball, and in a rash moment he made the gesture of kicking at his opponent’s ankles. The referee was on the sport, and Kyle gratefully took the unexpected chance of shooting the ball into the net from the 12 yards mark.”
