Trivia
- This marked the start of Konrad Kapler replacing Johnny Paton at outside left – or rather was thought to. Paton won his place back later in the season and was part of what looked as though it might be a stable front line.
- This was Pat McDonald's last first team game for Celtic before departing on a free transfer to Dunfermiline on 1st October, 1947.
- This was the last of the League Cup group games. Celtic failed to qualify for the quarter finals, finishing in third place behind Rangers and Dundee.
