_ Trivia
- Charlie Tully made his debut for Celtic in this game. Alec Boden also made his league debut at centre half.
- John Bonnar was signed from Arbroath. The situation with Celtic goalkeepers was a deal fraught. In the previous season Celtic had had to use 3 goalkeepers in one game. Bonnar was acquired when back up goalkeeper Rolando Ugolini departed in the summer to Middlesbrough.
- A sunny day and the game played to a full crowd. For Morton this was also Neil Mochan’s debut.
