- The start of a new season saw Celtic drawn in a relatively easy (easier!) group tyhan they had been for the three previous seasons avoiding the heavyweights of the League. Their group consisted of East Fife, raith Rovers and Third Lanark.
- With the departure of Willie Miller to Clyde at the start of the month, John Bonnar took over as the No1. goalkeeper. He was ably supported by Georger (Sonny) Hunter as the clu's backup goalkeeper.
