Trivia
- This was a rare game for Donald Weir at inside right. Donald scored with a diving header after some mazy dribbling and inter-passing between Tully, McPhail, Peacock and Weir.
Review
With 16 minutes left on the clock, Thornton headed what seemed as though it might be a winning goal for Rangers from a Rutherford corner. In the 80th minute a Tully cross was intercepted by Woodburn. The referee, with a clear view, immediately signalled for a penalty to the consternation of Rangers players and fans alike and to the surprise of the other onlookers. Celtic struck again 5 minutes later with yet again a Tully cross leading to the goal.
