Trivia
- On 21st August articles appeared in the local papers stating how Celtic demanded a replacement of the St Mungo Cup when they discovered that the trophy was in fact second hand. By the 22nd the Lord Provost had answered the letters stating that the Corporation had never contested the fact that it was second hand (nor had they advertised that fact) but that it was a beautiful trophy and if Mr Kelly was so ungracious as to object then a meeting of the Corporation would have to be called to decide what to do; but if Celtic wanted to buy a new trophy then they were at liberty to do so.
- Jock Weir (returning from injury) and Heron were given run outs on the 23rd against Hibernian in a Reserve match.
Review
This game at Cathkin Park was played in continuous rain and was uninspired. Remarks in the Press were made about the state of Thir Lanark’s ground and in particular there mediocre stand. Third Lanark had a goal disallowed from Gibson for a goal line infringement which only the referee saw!
